I've been using GFI Faxmaker since around version 10, but mostly in Exchange environments, and usually trying to get it to work with a variety of analog modems. Image via Wikipedia I have a customer that's moving to a hosted Exchange solution, and we've just moved the last of the users mailboxes off-site. Now came the simple task of pointing the Email2FAXGateway settings to send mail to the hosted servers. We don't use GFI Faxmaker to send, so won't have to resort to any special TextAPI formatting, outlined at GFI's support site. We initially performed a test, sending inbound fax messages directly to the hosted servers, and it seemed to work well, but a few days later noticed there was a problem. I think what was happening was the hosting mail servers performed an RDNS ( reverse DNS ) lookup, which fails, since mail sent out of GFI appears to be coming from faxmaker.com. The solution was to set up IIS SMTP services, and relay all messages to our hosting...

A co-worker of mine sent this thread of email, telling me about a prank one brother was pulling on the other. From what I could understand, between the tears of laughter, was that "Dan Smith" was having some issues using a Hickory Farms gift card, given him by his Grandma-ma. He must have contacted Hickory Farms, and was told they would get back to him. His brother learned of this, and decided to send him an email from hickory.farms@yahoo.com ,explaining why he wasn't going to get a refund. What ensues is hilarity... Well, NOW I know why I've not gotten any mail from my recent subscription to the R:Base mailing list. GoDaddy must be blocking these, as I've not received one, but after signing up via my Gmail account, 2 have hit my inbox. Turns out if you perform a search on "GoDaddy email issues" you will get many results. *sigh* I thought we'd get decent hosting out of them, but this is just unacceptable. Reading a few flames of them reveals that they have taken steps on a genocidal level to control spam. I even found this smart article outlining a method of using Google Apps to host your mail, instead of GoDaddy!
